Student Again: Diploma in Silver Jewellery
Lotus flower cut out from copper, using a jewellers saw
Early September, I started a year long, online, Diploma in Silver with the Jewellers Academy.
Iād been dabbling in my kitchen studio (originally in the shed at the bottom of the garden) for about a year and decided it would be a good idea to learn the art of jewellery making from skilled tutors. At the same time, the course has enabled me to join a thriving community of like minded creatives.
For three terms, every Monday a new project appears in our student account, to be made during that week. Week one started at ground zero, with: drilling, using a jewellers saw and filing - I enjoyed cutting out this little lotus flower in copper.
The projects subtly build on each other in complexity and at the end of each term all our completed and polished projects are sent to our mentor for marking.
